About this event

“When lockdown hit, we were all plunged into the darkness. Not as a creeping shadow, we did not get the luxury of time, but rather a plunge into an icy lake with rocks around out feet. Rocks that were built out of our fear of the unknown, the loss of loved ones and the loss of ourselves.”

The Nottingham UNESCO City of Literature brings to you a series of heartfelt letters from the young voices of Nottingham in this brand-new anthology. 'To A New Dawn: Letters of Solidarity' sees over forty young people recount their unique experiences of the first Coronavirus lockdown and the events that took place within it - their stories all equally as heart-breaking as they are hopeful for a better tomorrow. Join us to mark the launch of the anthology, with talks from our director Sandeep Mahal, in conversation with editor Eve Makis, as well as readings from some of the young writers who contributed to this very special collection, as much more besides!

This event will take place online on Wednesday 26th May 2021 from 6pm - 7pm, and will contain a mix of live and pre-recorded elements. You must register to attend, and a link will be sent to you a few days before the event, to allow you to view it.
