Summer Taster: Adapt your writing with Fiona Oliver

This taster is for complete beginners at adaptation so it doesn’t matter whether you’ve never written a story, or if you’ve already written a novel. If you want to work on your own pieces bring them along, otherwise you’ll be given examples to work with.

About this event

Come and take a look at the different traditional formats, including novel, short story, radio, television, film, digital and musical, and an overview of the considerations when adapting work for the different formats and the forms involved. We’ll then look at some examples of adapted work, and spend some time trying our hand at adaptation.

Fiona Oliver writes contemporary women’s fiction (Yoga’d) and cosey crime (The O’Neil series – The Body in the Lock), under the names Fiona Oliver and F.J. Oliver and for children and young adults under the name F.T.Gibbet (SongStarz, Captain Marion) launched 2017.

She has adapted two of the SongStarz books into a musical for schools, which was piloted in 2016 and is working on radio, film and tv adaptations, having researched adaptation at masters level. She incorporates cross media and digital storytelling techniques with her work and 2017 sees the launch of her book and music publishing venture, Corimis.
