About this event

At Penguin Random House, we’re keen to attract new voices to publishing, which is why we’re excited to let you know that applications for JobHack in Nottingham on Saturday 22nd February are now open!

JobHack is a series of free, publishing-orientated workshops offering young people who are curious about a creative career, the chance to go behind the scenes of the world’s first global book publisher. This year, we’re back with more workshops, more locations, and more prizes.

We aim to demystify publishing, give young people an interactive glimpse into the different roles in the industry, and show them how to stand out and get hired. By trying their hand at being an editor, marketer, designer and more, they’ll gain skills and get a chance to see what recruiters really look for in CVs.

But don’t just take our word about JobHack. Have a look at what previous attendees had to say:

“I came in not knowing much of the big picture and this has really explained what publishing is about. I have come away excited about roles I didn’t even know existed.”

“I really enjoyed the comfortable atmosphere and the fact that we could ask the staff about their individual roles. It was thoroughly enjoyable to work in teams and face challenges that are still relevant now.”

“JobHack was a really personal workshop run by a huge publishing house - it made the publishing world feel a lot more accessible.”

How to apply:

• No work experience or degree is needed - we want to reach those who have a passion for storytelling and a curiosity for what’s going on in the world, even if they hadn’t considered a career in publishing before.

• Attendees need to be 16+ by the day of the event and we allocate tickets to those have applied using random selection.

• Applications are now open and take 2 minutes to complete. We would really appreciate it if you could share the information attached with your network of young people and encourage them to find out more and apply before noon on Friday 7th February at:
