About this event

Many people aspire to be a ‘writer’, but what does that term truly mean – and is part of it making a living from your words?
In this session, we’ll explore some of the many avenues that writers can go down to ensure they are getting paid for their words, from traditional publishing to self-publishing through to the lively worlds of public speaking and teaching.
There’ll be the chance to explore your individual goals, skills and ambitions to see how they might fit into the life of a professional writer, and maybe some new ideas you can add to that list!
Throughout this workshop, you will
Explore what we mean by ‘making a living as a writer’
Look at where writers can earn from traditional and indie publishing
Investigate the world of self-publishing as an alternative
Consider ideas of writing in other forms (articles/blogs) as well as concepts like workshopping
Develop their own ideas and forward plans
