About this event

Readers love a good book series. They can collect the books. Get to know the characters and their world(s). Join a fan base and more. But a common criticism of book sagas is that they flounder in the middle or the last instalment 'lost it'. And there are some very good reasons why this happens. Learn how to plan ahead, avoid the pitfalls, and manage your creative data.
This course will use slideshows, group discussion, hands on practice and pair work. Participants are welcome to bring their own material but practice examples are available for those new to writing. Topics covered include:
-Recognise different types of book series
-Learn to plot ahead
-Awareness of narrative arcs, character arcs and themes,
-Avoid pitfalls over back story, character overload, world building, reveals, resolutions,
-Tools to manage creative data to aid consistency and continuity

The workshop takes place at the Nottingham Writers Studio, May 16th from 7.00 pm till 9.00 pm. Tel Address: 25 Hockley, Nottingham NG1 1FH Phone: 0115 837 2248. Non-members welcome.
