About this event

About this Event
This session will look at two of the most popular subgenres of science fiction, taking in the darker futures of Cyberpunk and the Victorian-inspired sci-fi of Steampunk.

We’ll take a look at the roots and history of each form, look at some prominent examples, explore what makes the subgenres what they are and give you some writing time to develop your own ideas in both fields.

Throughout this 2-hour workshop, you will…
Look at the history and roots of Cyberpunk and Steampunk
Examine some of the most popular and most critically acclaimed titles in the fields, including books, TV and film
Study the key elements of each subgenre
Take part in exercises that will help develop your own concepts in each field
