About this event

Nottingham is not well-known for its silk industry but, for over a hundred years, the Windley family owned a successful silk mill in Sneinton. Today, churches, houses, a school and a converted factory allow us to trace their story. Four generations furnish tales of diplomacy, military gallantry, cheese-making and, not least, good taste at Bromley House Library!

Martin Gorman is a retired town planner and Civil Servant who has spent the last couple of years looking for any remaining legacy of the family in Mapperley, where they lived, and beyond.
