About this event

Fancy trying your hand at screenwriting?

This February, we'll be joined by screenwriter and creative writing lecturer Anthony Cropper for a 3-part introduction to screenwriting.

Throughout the three sessions, participants will work on developing a new idea for a script, or spend time working on an existing script or idea. The sessions will be interactive and Anthony will be using examples from short and feature-length films to help you understand how to build a story and how to construct scenes.

Through a variety of examples and writing exercises participants will look at ways to develop dialogue and work on how to tell stories visually. You will also cover important aspects such as character wants and needs; character arcs; mistaken beliefs and dilemma.

This fantastic introduction to screenwriting will provide the basics for writers interested in developing their stories for stage and screen. By the end of the course you will know how to format a script, structure short and feature-length films, develop and deepen character, write and edit dialogue, and how to work visually.
