The Twist in the Tale: how to take your reader by surprise with Jane Hill

Date: 12th October 2019

A one-day course for emerging or experienced writers looking at some of the vital techniques of crime & thriller writing, and how they can be applied to a range of genres. Join published author, Jane Hill, as she draws on her own experience as a writer of psychological thrillers known for twists, misdirection and unreliable narrators. This course will explore the archetypal plots of crime & thriller novels, such as how to misdirect your reader, the unreliable narrator and how to handle the big reveal.

About the Tutor:

Jane Hill wrote her first novel aged 40, after a long career as a local radio journalist and programmer. Grievous Angel, a psychological thriller, was published in 2005 by Random House in the UK and William Heinemann in the US. Two other novels – The Murder Ballad and Can’t Let Go – have also been published by Random House and a fourth novel was published in Germany. Jane is also a stand-up comedian, performing all around the country, reaching the finals of two national comedy competitions and taking three acclaimed one-woman shows to the Edinburgh Fringe.
