About this event

On Wednesday 10th April Beeston Tales presents Nick Hennessey with The Howken Field.

Nick is an internationally acclaimed storyteller, playwright, folk singer, song writer and musician. He has told stories for more than 20 years, performing at venues such as the Southbank Centre and the Royal Albert Hall. He is particularly drawn to North European cultural traditions and has been awarded high honours in Finland for his work on their National Epic, Kalevala. He is a sought after artistic collaborator, working with many great musicians and storytellers. He brings a show of magical Border stories to Beeston with The Howken Field.
“Beneath the low sky there is a field. At its edge two ravens speak of those that have fallen and of those yet to be born into the world of the hollow wind."

Existing between worlds, between laws, the Scottish Borders are mysterious, a place of secrets. Unearthing a hidden hoard, Nick Hennessey tips out the glittering treasures of story and song that press up through field, fell, burn and beck of the Borders, shedding light on dark memories of the place.”
