About this event

Join award-winning author and scriptwriter, Helen Cross, in a journey to discover Nottingham's female literary heritage.

These Write Like A Girl workshops will focus on the lives and works of Dorothy Whipple, Helen Cresswell, Susannah Wright, Margaret Howitt and Panya Banjoko.

You'll be finding out more about these women, their style, context and themes and using what you've learned as inspiration for your own scripts.

You'll learn:

How to use historical work and events as inspiration for scriptwriting
Scriptwriting techniques, tips and tricks

This is a series of four workshops running on Tuesday 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th March. It's expected that you'll attend all the sessions.

Everyone involved in the project will have their work included in the Write Like A Girl anthology, will receive a free copy and be invited to attend a celebration event.

These workshops are FREE thanks to funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund, however, if you are able to make a donation to the Studio, we'd really appreciate it :-) (Usually this series would cost at least £60).

Places are limited, book soon!
