Pride 2026

This year, we brainstormed with a variety of different Notts-based creatives and literary organisations to get involved with NottsPride. Our aim? To bring together a community of people with whom to advocate for and celebrate queer literature.

Our Words: Reading and Writing with Pride

Nottingham Pride was on the 25th July, and with the chosen theme of ‘Identity’ for our 2026 Big City Reads campaign, what better year was there for us to get involved? Literature plays a vital role in helping queer people feel seen and accepted, as well as providing us with an avenue through which we can learn to better understand each other and ourselves. Every queer person has a story to tell. These stories deserve to be nurtured and heard. So we welcomed readers and writers to come along to one of our events, and help us give queer words the attention they deserve!

 

What was on: Leading up to Pride

Banner, Costume and Prop Making

Wednesday 15th July, 5.30 – 7 pm, Nottingham Central Library

We welcomed anyone working on an outfit, prop, banner, queer cosplays, or similar for Pride to our workshop ‘Banner, Costume and Prop Making’. Here we created a space for Nottingham’s queer creatives to work on and get help with their craft, and connect with each other ahead of the pride celebrations on the 25th!

What’s on: NottsPride, 25th July

Quiet Reading Safe Space

3 – 4pm, Nottingham Central Library

A space for people who love Pride but found it a bit overstimulating to take a step away from the partying and decompress with a queer book. We provided the books!

Pride March

Met at 11.30 am outside Nottingham Central Library

We were at the Pride March, dressed as our favourite queer characters and authors to celebrate queer literature! We loved joining people who came along dressed as their faves as well, but welcomed to march alongside us no matter what they were wearing. We were joined by Writing East Midlands!

 

Pride Stall

12 pm onwards, Sneinton Square

We also helped at a stall with Writing East Midlands offering the chance to work on writing activities, bookmarks decorating and most excitingly hosted a queer book swap.
