Matthew Welton

Matthew Welton was born in Nottingham and teaches creative writing at the University of Nottingham.

About Matthew

Through his writing, Matt explores the overlap between traditional and experimental poetry, or between seriousness and playfulness.

He is more obsessed with how words sound than what they mean, and he doesn't really *get* the distinction between poems and fiction.

He likes collaborating with writers, musicians and artists.

He's had 3 full books of poems and 3 pamphlets published. Recognition includes the Jerwood-Aldeburgh First Collection Prize, 2nd prize in the Arvon Poetry Competition, and the Eric Gregory Award.
