Martin is a spoken word poet and arguably one of Nottingham's best poets from Guildford. His first collection, The Prettyboys of Gangster Town, is being published in September 2020 through Fly on the Wall Poetry.
Martin mostly writes about emotional connections and small moments, but with a sideline in nonsense poems, found poems and poetic improv. Fly on the Wall describe his work as “Easy to fall in love with. Honest, hard-hitting, understated and with an endearing style of writing”.
He's closely involved with local groups DIY Poets and World Jam, as a zine editor, co-ordinator and event organiser, but also performs across the Midlands and as far away as Edinburgh Fringe and Berlin.
His poetry has so far won him the 2018 Southwell Folk Festival slam and an egg whisk.
