About Emma,

What book do you wish everyone would ready and why?

Lord of the Flies by William Golding. It’s a great book, that I remember studying at school and it’s what kick-started my interest in studying English at university. If you love dystopian YA novels, such as The Hunger Games and The Maze Runner, definitely give this a read.

Who are your favourite authors?

D.H. Lawrence, Zadie Smith, Sally Rooney

Where is your favourite place to read?

Either in bed, or by the lake at University Park on a sunny Autumn day

What do you love most about Nottingham?

I grew up in a town in Derbyshire, but Nottingham has always been close to my heart. It’s the place where I came for days out as a child, the place I completed my A-Levels and now my home away from home, at the University of Nottingham. It will always be the place where I increased in confidence, where I found my interests and, as cliché as this sounds, the place where I’ve started to develop and grow into the person I want to be. I also love its wide variety of cafes and charity shops!

What career or industry do you hope to get into?

I’m hoping to do an MA in English Literature after I leave Nottingham this year, potentially with the aim of being an academic/lecturer!
