About Anna,

What book do you wish everyone would read and why?

The Mayor of Casterbridge – Thomas Hardy. It is a brilliantly written and gripping novel that explores the importance of integrity and perseverance. The plight of the protagonist, Michael Henchard, portrays the human fears of failure and isolation, and is a lesson in the necessity for virtue and compassion to navigate life’s vicissitudes. I dare anyone to read it and not fall in love with Hardy’s work.

Who are your favourite authors?

Thomas Hardy, Toni Morrison, Jane Austen, Donna Tartt, and Joseph Heller.

Where is your favourite place to read?

In bed with a cup of tea.

What do you love most about Nottingham?

I love how vibrant it is, there is always something for me to do and the people are generally very friendly. I also really enjoy the music scene in the city - when we aren’t in a lockdown of course. My mother was from Nottingham, so moving here was an opportunity for me to see and experience the place that she grew up in, and for once live near some of my family.

What career or industry do you hope to get into?

I have always been an avid reader, so any industry that allows me to incorporate that passion, such as publishing, would be my ideal career.
