On behalf of YOUnique Producers at the New Art Exchange, we’re calling out for young poets, spoken word artists, writers and performers for the YOUnique Festival: an exciting arts festival organised by, and for, young people.

“I stand on the sacrifices of a million women before me thinking what I can do to make this mountain taller so the women after me can see farther...” Legacy, Rupi Kaur

THIS YEAR’S THEME IS: Women Rising: Celebrating Gender Equality

Join us in celebrating women from all over the world and within our communities, breaking down stereotypes, and stimulating change.

Can you write a poem or spoken word to share at a live performance? We are looking for writing that celebrates an important woman or someone who identifies as female in your life. This could be person close to you, in your community or someone who inspires you, but you have never met. Or you might want to write about your experiences or what you feel need to change to bring a change to gender equality and make the world a fairer place. You could use one of the following prompts to start your creative process: COURAGE, HOPE, SURVIVAL.

Anyone can get involved aged 14 and over, submit your writing, no longer than 5 minutes when spoken, send to Manya@nae.org.uk by Tuesday 2 March. Please include all your contact details and age. If selected, you will perform during the live line up at the festival which will hosted by MELODYX Music form KEMET FM Sat 5 March 2022. Head over to the New Art Exchange website for more information about the YOUnique Producers and the festival.
