Roll Up! Roll Up! The Poetry Funfair is coming to town.

Nottingham UNESCO City of Literature and the Poetry Pulse project have joined forces with Nottingham Playhouse and poet Ben Norris to offer a whole evening of festivities to celebrate National Poetry Day on Thursday 3rd October.

From 5-6 pm, three poets from the Nottingham Creative Writing hub are leading a free writing workshop for writers: Moments of Truth. Hannah Cooper-Smithson, Lauren Terry and Tuesday Shannon will support and encourage you to write a complete poem draft. Book your place now at https://www.nottinghamplayhouse.co.uk/whats-on/workshop/moments-of-truth/.

From 6-8 pm, NUCoL present the Poetry Funfair! We celebrate the National Poetry Day theme of truth with a fanfare of funfair activities, including guess-the-weight-of-the-truth, poetry hook-a-duck, a poetry fortune teller, juggler, and ghost train. With a chance to see films produced as part of the Midlands3Cities Poetry Pulse project, there’s also the chance to bring a long and film your own poem, as well as adding your words to our collaborative poem to celebrate the occasion. All events are free and suitable for all ages!

Then at 8pm, on the main stage, Nottingham Playhouse and Ben Norris present An Extremely Good Poetry Event, with a stellar cast of poets of stage and page, including the talents of Dizraeli, Liz Berry, Caroline Bird, Will Harris, Georgina Wilding, Vanessa Kisuule, Debris Stevenson, Bohdan Piasecki, Jamie Thrasivoulou and Michael Southan, all hosted by the very marvellous poet and star of The Archers, Ben Norris. The building will be awash with verse!

Book your tickets now. https://www.nottinghamplayhouse.co.uk/whats-on/workshop/a-quite-enormous-poetry-event/
