Inspiring and engaging young people through MyVoice

Mon 20 Apr, 2020

Virtual MyVoice is a celebration of Nottingham's Young Voices. Watch performances from our fantastic young winners, hear from our brilliant judges and special guests, as they explore the key social justice issues central to young people's lives.

...and if you'd like to read the anthology for free, it's here: https://issuu.com/nottinghamcityofliterature/docs/speak_up_

Across prose, poetry and script, the writers explore racism, homophobia, bodies and gendered violence, the climate crisis, and the principle of taking a stand. These bold and powerful voices spotlight what matters most, but they do so in novel ways: climate change is not an elegiac wail but imagined as elites stripping opportunity from future generations; racism is not only an injustice to be confronted but entangled with motherhood; the contributions to this anthology also encourage the reader to experience the fears and anxieties young girls and women experience to powerful effect. When this anthology's writers 'Speak Up!', the reader is compelled to listen.
