Slamovision is the global spoken word community’s Eurovision, hosted by the UNESCO Cities of Literature. Last year’s slam was hosted jointly by Manchester and Quebec Cities of Literature, after their wins in 2020.

Our 2021 candidate, and now champion, Cara Thompson brought the Slamovision crown to Nottingham – pinning us on the map as a city of performance poetry.

This year, Nottingham UNESCO City of Literature is partnering with Nottingham Trent University’s WRAP (Writing Reading and Pleasure) programme to host Slamovision in Nottingham. The Grand Finale will take place on 6th December 2022 from 6pm onwards at Metronome, Lace Market.

How to take part

To select our Nottingham entry we will be having an open-mic night in October at Nottingham Playhouse, partnering with spoken word collective Speakeasy. Come along on the Friday 21st October and enter for free – the winner will receive a £150 prize and take the stage as Nottingham’s entry for Slamovision 2022!

You can book your free place at the Speakeasy local heat on 21st October here.
