By bringing together young people, writers and illustrators working in every form of literature, and publishing folk from the UK and Ireland, Our Stories aims to spark a conversation with the industry, and ultimately to empower the next generation of LGBTQ+ writers and illustrators.
Nottingham’s one-day conference will reflect the city’s established culture of publishing comics and graphic novels, with a particular focus on how we can make this area of publishing more LGBTQ+ representative and inclusive. We will be joined by some wonderful friends and allies from Nottingham and further afield, including So Mayer, Jules Scheele and Jake Hall.
Join us for the Our Stories Conference taking place on Saturday 25th November at Nottingham’s new Central Library. This is an exciting opportunity to get an exclusive look at Nottingham’s fantastic brand new library before its doors officially open to the public on Tuesday 28th November!
From 11am to 7pm, there will be a variety of panel discussions and creative workshops exploring important topics relating to inclusive publishing and exploring queer identity through graphic novels and comics. Topics include…
- Game changing comics and graphic novels
- Unboxing histories and heritages
- Reframing our stories and exploring adaptations
- Publishing Our Stories: Publishing processes, successes and challenges
