Nottingham Poetry Festival is an annual festival that brings together a community of poetry lovers to celebrate words, voices, and creativity. This year, it took place between the 5th and 14th of June, and as part of this year’s festivities Cara Thompson, our Nature Poet Laureate, was commissioned to write and perform a poem. As always, she blew us away. She wrote an amazing poem titled Who Needs Poetry, which you can read below. This beautiful poem was captured on film and screened at the Broadway Cinema during the festival. An incredible 6,500 saw the film and shared some beautiful feedback about how it impacted them.

A really lovely poem. I really enjoyed being met with something so thoughtful and relevant to the times and how the arts are needed.
I liked it! I struggle to really appreciate poetry but I found the delivery soothing and the poem clever and nice and rhythmic.
