Bromley House Library’s Geraldine Gray discovered a love of poetry whilst studying at Loughborough University in the 1970s. She says, “I’m fortunate to have worked in libraries all my life”. She now works at Bromley House Library in Nottingham.
Her chosen poem is ‘The Coming’ by the Welsh poet R S Thomas (1913 – 2000). She first heard it at a Good Friday church service in St Peter’s Church in Nottingham and found it atmospheric and hopeful yet also bleak. “Hairs on the back of your neck…stand on end,” she says. “It’s a poem about choices”.
