Bumblebee and the Flutes / Tunes From Mousedale Dunes

Wed 19 May, 2021

We were gutted to not meet Slovenian children's author Anja Štefan last year - coronavirus put paid to her scheduled visit. But we are delighted to be able to host two exclusive videos she made for us.

In 2020, Mladinska knjiga (co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union) published two excellent picture books in English language. They are both written by Anja Štefan, illustrated by Alenka Sottler, and translated by Nada Grošelj.

Anja Štefan agreed to present these books to children and their parents in two Unesco Cities of Literature, Norwich and Nottingham. She would travel there from London, where she was supposed to be an Artist in Residence from September 2020. She was also expected to be a guest of the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in London and appear in the London Library.

Unfortunately, these events were cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

The UK - Nottingham, Norwich and London in particular - were denied the chance to meet one of the finest authors in Slovenia. But no fear! Instead, Anja Štefan has produced a video for young readers in the cities she was unable to reach - and, of course, young people everywhere around the world. They're a real treat for young children - and their parents!
