Katie Harrison

Katie is the Associate Researcher at Nottingham UNESCO City of Literature working on the Erasmus funded Story Valley project.

About Katie

Katie brings experience as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Multilingual Manchester. The research she has undertaken on the Manchester project has focused on Manchester’s complementary schools – voluntary schools that take place outside of normal school hours that teach heritage/community languages to young people with a migration background.

Prior to this, Katie completed her PhD in Linguistics (Modern Languages) in the School of Cultures, Languages and Area Studies at the University of Nottingham. Her thesis provided the first in-depth sociolinguistic examination of the Ukrainian community in the UK, focusing on the use, teaching and maintenance of Ukrainian. Katie also holds an MRes in Slavonic Studies and BA (Hons) in English Studies and Russian from the University of Nottingham.
