About Alex

I’m thrilled to be volunteering for Nottingham UNESCO City of Literature and promoting reading in the city by celebrating all things books.

Why I read

I’ve been a bookworm for as long as I can remember and always have at least one book on the go. It’s the perfect gateway to pure escapism and channels my creative side by providing inspiration for my own writing.

I like reading a variety of genres including classics, thrillers, science fiction and historical fiction as well as delving into biographies and inspirational true stories. My favourite classic is Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë whilst my top thriller writer is French author Michel Bussi. One of my all time favourites is The Passage trilogy by Justin Cronin, and I’m constantly tempted to just keeping re-reading them.

My favourite Nottinghamshire writer is Clare Harvey, fellow University of Nottingham creative writer and author of The Gunner Girl, The English Agent and The Night Raid. I just a love a good WWII novel!
