DAWN OF THE UNREAD: Resources

Nottingham's innovative graphic novel - now with accompanying resources for the classroom!

Dawn of the Unread is a series of 16 original comics set in Nottingham, available digitally and in print.

'Unread' characters from Nottingham's literary history come back from the dead as zombies, to save libraries and get people reading 'boooooks!'.

The project has generated over fifty YouTube videos, a computer game, dance track and mobile app. It is a key part of Nottingham UNESCO City of Literature’s drive to improve the city’s literacy and has won a Guardian award for innovation in education.

Now it is even easier to use the comics as inspiration in the classroom or library, with our brand new resources for learning.

Our Education Pack includes:

  • Guidance Notes for teachers, librarians and education professionals
  • Sample Scheme of Work and Lesson Plans
  • Activities to accompany Issue 1: 'Calm down - it's only an abookalypse!'
  • Real-world challenges to take learning beyond the classroom

Additional resources:

  • Customisable PowerPoint presentations
  • Interactive quiz
  • Real-life walking tour of locations in the stories

These resources can grow and develop over time, so if you have your own ideas and would like to share them with the teaching community please send them to us for consideration: contactus@nottinghamcityofliterature.com
