Gregory Woods is a poet and cultural critic. He was born in Egypt (1953) and went to school in Ghana and England. He began his teaching career at the University of Salerno, Italy (1980).
His main poetry collections have been published by Carcanet Press, and his main academic books by Yale University Press. Woods was the first Professor of Gay and Lesbian Studies in the UK (1998) at Nottingham Trent University, where he is now Professor Emeritus.
